I discovered this great tip purely by accident! I bought bananas specifically to let them get brown and mushy so I could make more of the delicious Upside Down Banana Bread we posted previously. Some of the bananas were placed on the rarely used toaster so that they were out of the way. The others were balanced on top of one of our animal cracker containers we reuse for organizing the kitchen. I kept knocking them over, so they were placed on a paper plate. The bananas on the plate did not brown nearly as quickly as the other set. I was curious whether this was just coincidence, so, of course, I had to try it again. What I discovered was that if you do NOT want the bananas to brown quickly, simply place them on a paper plate! They get brown even slower if they are taken apart so the bananas are individual. Both of the bunches of bananas you see in the picture sat for about 2 1/2 weeks.
